How I went from a soul-sucking office job to running my own interior design studio
People often say to me how much they wish they’d trained as an interior designer. And my answer is “it’s never too late”.
In my previous post, the Dangers of DIY Design, we looked at some of the common pitfalls that I’ve seen in interiors before. Poorly planned rooms, magnolia paint everywhere, busted budgets, poor lighting and confused schemes, these kept on coming up.
In my previous post we talked about the experiences and the woes of working with an interior designer and how, often, it’s so difficult to get what you want when you expect a designer to be able to read your mind.
My favourite quote from the latest episode: “The first rule of business is FUN!” Designing is hugely fun for me, so no worries on that front!
There are plans afoot for an exciting design-filled 2015, which I can’t wait to get started on. See you in the New Year!
During my recent trip to Paris I stayed in Le Marais, an historic district of the city that is now full of bohemian and creative shops, studios and galleries. As well as hosting some of the Paris Design Week exhibitions, Le Marais is full of stunning historical architecture and current-day design – a real feast for the eyes!
We’ve all got to start somewhere, and this is where the Pickard Design blog must start!
